From Morning Prayer:

Saint Evaristus, Priest, Martyr

... And He told this parable:

"A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. And he said to the vinedresser, 'Behold, these three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down; why should it use up the ground?'

And he answered him, 'Let it alone, sir, this year also, till I dig about it and put on manure. And if it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.' "

(from the Gospel of Lk. 13: 1-9)

I pray that this text finds you seeing the present for what it is.

I pray that we may all have had a day of letting Jesus dig around us and fertilize us so that we bear fruit.

Please pray for all those listed in all the parts of the litany from last Monday (Part 1)(Part 2)(Part 3)(Part 4).
