From Morning Prayer:

Saints Cornelius, Pope and Matyr,  Saint Cyprian, Bishop and Martyr

A centurion had a slave who was dear to him, who was sick and at the point of death.

When he heard of Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his slave.

Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house and the centurion sent friends to him, saying , "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed ..."

When Jesus heard this, he marveled at him and said to the multitude that followed him,

"I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith."

And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave well.

(very loosely from the Gospel of Lk. 7: 1-10)

I pray that this text finds you taking up your cross - and following Him.

I pray that we may all have had a day of seeing Jesus Christ healed a Roman, an 'enemy' of the Jews. Love your enemies.

Please pray for all those listed in all the parts of the litany that follows (Part 1)(Part 2)(Part 3)(Part 4).
