From Morning Prayer:
Sts. Carina, Melasippius and Anthony, Martyrs.
“A man once gave a great banquet, and invited many; and at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say ‘Come; for all is now ready.
’But they all made excuses.
The first said, ‘I bought a field, and I must go out and see it; please, have me excused.’
And another said, ‘I bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them; please, have me excused.’
And another said, ‘I got married, and I can't come.’
So the servant reported this to his master.
The householder in anger said,
‘Go out quickly to the streets and lanes, and bring the poor and maimed and blind and lame.’
And the servant said, ‘Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’
And the master said,
‘Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to come, that my house may be filled.
For I tell you, none of those men who were [first] invited shall taste my banquet.’”
(very loosely from the Gospel of Luke)
I pray that this text finds you giving alms freely.
I pray that we may all have had a day of going to the feast - whichever round we were picked in.
Please pray for all those listed in all the parts of the litany from yesterday (Part 1)(Part 2)(Part 3)(Part 4).
PEACE ✌ † 🙏 🐕🦺
